Campo di FioriCampo di Fiori (Field of Flowers) is a lovely square in the heart of Rome. It is situated next to Piazza Farini and close to Piazza Navona. At the other side of the river lies Trastevere, an exciting area for nightlife. There are often markets on Campo di Fiori. The square is surrounded by cosy bars and pubs.
Castel St. AngeloThis Castle is situated only a few minutes from the Vatican. The castle was initially the tomb of emperor Hadrian. Later it became a fortress, designed to protect the pope. You can reach the roof of the castle, where you have a great view of Rome and the Tiber river.
Circus Maximus An enormous stadium for races with chariots, in the times of the Roman Empire. The stadium had a capacity of 250.000 spectators! Only the Maracana soccer stadium in Brazil is this size nowadays! The stadium is situated in Ancient Rome, close by the Colosseum.
Colosseum One of the most famous buildings in the world: the centre of the old Roman Empire. Here gladiators would fight against eachother, seabattles took place here, and wild animals were hunting christians. Now one of the most visited tourist sites on earth.
Pantheon This temple is situated in the heart of Rome, a few minutes from Piazza Navona and the Via del Corso. The name means “all gods”. It is a temple from Roman times and was commissioned by Marcus Agrippo. There are shops and cafes on the square in front of the Pantheon.
Piazza Navona Beautiful renaissance square in the heart of Rome. The square was part of Ancient Rome, but has changed a lot during the Renaissance. Famous because of the Fountain of the Four Seasons. The square is completely surrounded by trendy cafes and restaurants.
Spanish Steps The most elegant square in Rome, surround by equally elegant shops, like Gucci; Armani, Dolce e Gabbani , etc. The main attraction of the square are the “Spanish Steps”. If you climb the stairs, you reach Trinità dei Monti. Here you have a wonderful view of Rome. You can take the Metro to go to Piazza di Spagna. Get off at “Spagna”.
Trevi Fountain Probably the most famous fountain in the world. Anita Ekberg had a bath in this fountain in “La Dolce Vita” by Fellini. Throw a coin into the fountain, and you can make three wishes. Or, if you throw a coin into the fountain, it means you will come back to Rome.

St. Peter’s Cathedral & Vatican The home of the pope, the centre of the katholic church in the world. A country, as well as one of the most famous musea in the world. Situated on the other side of the Tiber, only a short walk from Piazza del Popolo and Piazza Navona.
Villa Borghese The biggest park of Rome is situated on top of the Piazza di Spagna and also Piazza del Popolo. Also accessible from Piazza Barberini, by walking up Via Veneto. The ideal place to visit if you are in Rome with your family. Rent a bycicle, visit the Zoo or have a drink in one of the bars.
